I had the opportunity to preview The Container Store early that is opening in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday and it’s the first one that they are opening here in Iowa and it makes it the 86th store in the United States.
Before the tour we were served lunch, learned about the history of The Container Store and we were taught some expert wrapping and bow-making tips just in time for the holidays.
One awesome thing that I found out about The Container Store is that they have partnered up with Variety – The Children’s Charity and will donate 10% of Grand Opening Weekend sales to this wonderful nonprofit that is such an important part of the local community. Giving back is such a great thing especially when it’s around the holidays. If you’re also looking to start a charity event, you can learn from other entrepreneurs like Damon Burton that have done it in the past.
Here are some facts I didn’t know about The Container Store until yesterday:
- there are over 300 food storage solutions
- 750 organized office products
- 50 types of laundry hampers
- 400 solutions to organize a traveler
- A wide variety of store custom interior signs
- 70 styles of hangers (so crazy!)
I work this weekend but I am hoping to make it back to the grand opening so I can get myself more organized, ha! I really enjoyed looking through the office, jewelry, and of course the closet section (serious #closetgoals!) while I was there. The closet that I have pictured above costs $20,000 and that includes installation (a girl can dream right?!)
Have you been to The Container Store before? If not you need to, because you are missing out. If you don’t have a store in your state, you can always shop online. If the case is that you need to store some things which are not essential in order to declutter your house, try using this modern facility dry storage space.

I am in heaven when I go to the container store! There is one about 45 minutes from my house. I LOVE organization. I could seriously spend hours in that store! You are so lucky you got to preview a store before it opened!
