A few weeks ago Gavin, and I and his family all went to St. George, Utah to go rappelling. This was our first time rappelling and I felt so much safer rappelling knowing that Gavin’s uncle is certified in rappelling for 15+ years. We started a little after 1pm on Thursday and didn’t finish till after 7pm. We had lunch before we left but we packed along some snacks and tons of water since it was a hot, dry day in the desert. The dry heat really got to me and I ended up getting sick, but I toughed it out till we were finished. We did a total of 5 different rappels: 15ft, 20ft, 50ft, 100ft, and 200ft – some of them even going down into water which was pretty cool. The 200ft rappel was by far the scariest one. You have no idea how glad I was to be back on land. I will say it was definitely an experience and I would probably do it again, just not down ones this big. I would have loved to share more photos with you but I was just taking in all the beautiful scenery around me and it was always a hassle to grab my phone out of Gavin’s backpack each time.
Have any of you rappelled before? If so, where?
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great start to the week! xx

Wow! This looks a bit terrifying, but also totally exhilarating. I also love the color of the rocks. Glad everyone had a safe trip 🙂
It was pretty scary but I’m glad I can say that I did it 🙂
This looks so fun! I have never repelled just like this, but I have repelled down after climbing up. That being said, I’ve never climbed up that high! I can’t imagine the rush!
I think I enjoyed the hiking more than the rappelling though 😉 I haven’t ever climbed up a cliff, just down.
oh gosh 200ft!! That’s insane! Good for you for doing it, though it sucks you got sick!! Heights are so terrifying!
I usually don’t mind heights but it was just scary hanging from a rope.
I did NOT know what rappelling was, but I’m so glad I do now. It looks terrifying, and while I’m NOT afraid of heights per say, this definitely looks a little scary! xx Adaleta Avdic
A lot of people don’t know what it is – I didn’t know what it was till like a year ago. Usually heights don’t bother me but hanging off a 200ft cliff bothered me, ha.
omg!! so fun, but kind of scary! def have good stories to tell about it 🙂

It was scary, but a neat experience.
This looks like so much fun. The color of those cliff faces are incredible. It must have been so exciting!
It was so neat being able to see all of this. We even saw some cliffs that were red.
This looked like such an awesome experience Amanda!
It really was!
I have not been repelling before, but I go to St George regularly to visit family. I’ll have to try it!
