Thank you Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort for hosting our stay. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
WHY WILDERNESS RESORT?
Iowa has had some brutally cold temperatures this winter so we were looking for a fun place to escape winter for a weekend! Gavin had been to Wisconsin Dells before, but Kamden & I haven’t so we thought it would be the perfect time to go.
THE STAY
Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort 511 E Adams St, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965
We ended up staying in a Double Suite Wet Bar that included two queen size beds, sleeper sofa, a semi-privacy wall and a wet bar with stools. The room was spacious and had a small balcony that looked out at the parking lot. This room is also upgradable so if you wanted to be ground-level pool side, upper-level pool view or woods feel, you could do that but for a nominal fee.
WHAT TO DO
There are so many indoor attractions that will keep your kids busy all weekend long! Below I have listed all of the water parks as well as the indoor activities that the Wilderness Resort offers.
KLONDIKE KAVERN WATERPARK
This waterpark is over 65,000 sq. feet and is perfect for all ages. It also has a couple thrill rides too such as the Hurricane, daring tube and body slides, and a lazy river. The lazy river was our favorite thing in this waterpark and it was so relaxing.
WILD WATERDOME WATERPARK
This waterpark is 70,000 sq ft and features a cool see-through-roof so you can still get a nice sun tan even though you’re not outside (Don’t forget your sunscreen!). It also has the largest indoor wave pool in America!
WILD WEST WATERPARK
This waterpark is over 70,000 sq feet and it was the waterpark we spent the most time at. We enjoyed the indoor/outdoor spa and the Black Hole thrill ride was so much fun!
TAKE FLIGHT THEATER
Take Flight is the all new, first of a kind, aerial adventure theater. Your seat moves and your feet dangle as you feel the sensation of flying while in front of a massive 65’x 48′ screen. It was such a neat experience and it felt like I was actually flying over some of the most famous places in the in the United States in real life.
Take Flight theater is proud to be adding a new film to its lineup for a limited time. Mesmerica Air by James Hood allows guests to take a journey inside their minds, to engage their senses in a miraculous alchemy of sound and light. Mesmerica is showing for a limited time from 8:30 -11 pm nightly. Also showing daily are Ice Age™ No Time For Nuts – The Ride and the resort’s Flying Wild film, which takes participants “soaring” over famous national landmarks and America’s breathtaking national parks can be seen from 10 am- 11 pm daily.
Tickets cost $17.99 for a single showing of any of the films. A special double feature ticket for Flying Wild and Ice Age can be purchased for $25.98. Mesmerica is not included in any double feature pricing. Participants must be at least four-years-old and at least 32” to ride with a chaperone, 42″ to ride alone. The maximum weight allowance is 300 lbs.
LASER TAG
The laser tag arena is 3 stories tall & over 3,000 square feet! There is no age limit for this attraction which is awesome because the whole family can join in on the fun!
GO-KARTS
Kamden was just tall enough to ride on the go-Karts and he had a blast! The course is 525 ft long and guests must be 36″ tall & 4 years old to be a passenger in the double cart. Guests must be 56″ tall and 10 years old to drive a single or double kart alone.
NORTHERN LIGHTS SKY ROPES COURSE
The Northern Lights Sky Ropes Course is located above one of the resort’s mega arcades. Wearing a full-body safety harness, you’ll climb your way around 42 different challenges. Guests must be 42″ to enjoy this attraction.
WILD WEST BUMPER BOATS
Unfortunately we did not get a chance to do the Wild West Bumper Boats. The bumper boats are located inside the Wild West Water Park and guests must be 48″ tall to ride alone, and guests under 48″ tall must ride with a parent or guardian.
WILD ABYSS INDOOR MINI GOLF
This indoor black-light mini golf course is newly renovated and features huge tropical aquariums with live sea creatures and fish. Playing mini golf either inside or outside would definitely be fun, especially for people who put in the time to enhance their game.
MEGA PRIZE ARCADES
There are 3 arcades in the resort. Northern Lights Arcade, Wilderwoods Arcade, and X-treme Adventure Arcade.
WILDKIDS CLUB
The WildKids team offers scheduled activities and crafts for families to do together. Such a fun idea and Kamden enjoyed making a couple crafts.
POLKA DOT POTS
Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to paint pots. Choose from their assortment of ceramic pieces including plates, mugs, bowls and much more! They will provide guests with the paint, brushes, special tools, and simple instructions so you can create your own masterpiece!
THE CANDY CABIN
If you like sweets like I do, then you need to stop by The Candy Cabin. They have two locations. The original Candy Cabin is located in the Wild West lobby and the other one is located in the New Frontier Lobby. Both feature a variety of delicious candies and chocolate dipped goodies.
